Blackjack Glossary
Beating blackjack needs knowledge
of words & phrases, which make up blackjack terminology and
“language of blackjack”. Never go anywhere near blackjack table
unless you read this blackjack glossary.
Blackjack – No blackjack glossary
can be completed without this one and two cards totaling twenty
one consisting of Ace & other card with value of 10.
Twenty one – three or few more
cards that gives total of 21 or close to 21.
Odds –mathematical chances that
particular event may occur
Pit –group of the blackjack tables
Pit Boss – Supervising staff of
“pit” and they ensure that everyone follows rules of house.
Shoe –box having multiple decks of
the cards
Insurance –separate bet when
dealer’s up card is ace.
Hit – the blackjack terminology
for demanding other card from dealer
Stand – when you are pleased with
your hand and request no more cards from dealer
Double Down – After first 2 cards
are dealt, player can double initial bet in the exchange for one
extra card. They should turn-up both of first cards dealt.
Natural – the blackjack
terminology for 2 cards totaling 21, as well known as the
“Blackjack”
Pair Splitting – When first 2
cards are dealt of equal value and you have option of playing
all at the same time like two separate hands.
Bust –total of blackjack hand is
more than 21.
Push –tie between player and
dealer and player gets the bet back, however wins nothing.
Action –total amount of bets in
certain period of time. Five bets of $25 that equals $125 of
action.
Surrender – you will give up
during play as well as lose half of your bet
Cut Card –card and card shaped
piece of the plastic that is used to cut deck.
Hole Card –card, which is a face
down.
